In preparation for the Orange Branch Public Library exhibit I pieced together some bits of separate paintings. This is Spread 1 of “Beauty and the Beast”. Since it’s a pop-up book every element had to be drawn separately in order to have the flexibility of moving things around. #beautyandthebeast #mirdinarabooks

As some of you know, each year I paint Easter Eggs to honor my grandma Lilia, in our family she kept the tradition of decorating eggs for Easter. I decided to continue this tradition, but instead of dyeing eggs, I paint them. I use acrylics paints on porcelain eggs.
This year I decided to play with the gold/black/red pallet. Originally I’ve been planning to do three eggs, but with other projects and family events I feel I can manage only two this year.
As soon as these two are coated with lacquer, I will let everyone know about the day/time they become available.

Mama’s mermaid wallpaper + daughter’s flower painting.
Ever since Sabrina was a baby we couldn’t help but notice how much the girl loved water! I remember she was about 2 years old and had no fear around the pool, and has always loved swimming. At some point she was totally convinced she was secretly a mermaid. 😊So I had this idea of designing a mermaid wallpaper for her room for a long time. I’m so happy I paired up with @hyggeandwest and now finally this dream of mine came true))))
It took us nearly a month to install this wallpaper in Sabrina’s room, it’s actually not that hard, but having no experience definitely slows things down ))) My husband and I looked up different techniques, some people apply glue directly onto wall and then apply the wallpaper, however we followed video tutorial by @hyggeandwest and applied glue onto the wallpaper first.

My mom brought me my early drawings and paintings from grade 1 - 4 (this is roughly 1987- 1990). It’s like a time capsule with sealed emotions )) also, notice how my art teacher figured it’s ok to correct the ballerina’s foot using a pen right over my painting 😬😆. #childhood

Yes it’s still pretty cold outside, but knowing that today is officially the first day of spring, warms up my heart a little bit ☀️
